A new generation of AI -powered speed cameras is set to be rolled out across Britain in hopes to catch drivers breaking the law. These cameras can automatically detect seatbelt and mobile phone violations and have already been tested earlier this year by National Highways.

In 2021, roughly 0.8% of drivers were recorded using a handheld phone while driving despite the penalty doubling to 6 points on your licence and a £200 fine. In addition, around 7% of drivers choose not to wear their seatbelt, resulting in over a third (34%) of car occupants killed in road crashes not being unrestrained.

So, what does this mean for you?

It is important to remember that road safety is vital, and every time you break the law while driving, you not only put your own life at risk but also endanger the lives of everyone around you. Whether it’s speeding, texting, or running a red light, these seemingly small infractions can lead to devastating consequences. Remember that safety on the road is a shared responsibility. By adhering to traffic laws, you are contributing to safer roads for yourself, your loved ones, and your community. Make the responsible choice; it could save a life.
