My two-week work experience programme at Gepp & Sons in Chelmsford has benefitted me in more ways than I initially expected. Not only has it provided me with the opportunity to gain a valuable insight into a career within the legal profession but also into life in a busy office environment. On my first day I was made to feel extremely welcome by everyone I met and really enjoyed attending to the tasks given to me, which included assisting with incoming and outgoing post, filing, photocopying, and archiving. Within a couple of days I was given the opportunity to observe proceedings in both the Magistrates and Crown Court in Chelmsford, which was a very engaging and fascinating experience. Because I showed such an interest in what was happening I was invited to visit again on several occasions. These visits, really made me appreciate and understand how much hard work the Solicitors in the Criminal Department at Gepp & Sons put into each client’s case in order to achieve the best possible outcome. During my brief period of work experience I have gained some important skills and knowledge that I believe will assist me greatly in the development of my future career in law, it has been a truly memorable experience.
