Essex Young Farmers Country Show

The Essex Young Farmers Country Show has quickly become one of the premier agricultural shows in the county, with almost 14,000 visitors.The 2011 Show is on Sunday May 22nd at Boyton Hall, Roxwell A1060, CM1 4LN. The Show is organised and run entirely by members of Essex Young Farmers, aged 16-26, which is a fantastic achievement, considering how much is involved. The Show has evolved over the years and is strongly supported by sponsors from the local area and the agricultural industry. To make the show a success a lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes, taking a week before the show to set everything up and then a further week to tidy up. The day promises to thrill, entertain and educate visitors with the many different areas that make up the Essex Young Farmers Country Show… There will be a variety of catering options available to visitors on the day. The attractions will include : Craft Hall Bursting with creative stands demonstrating a wide range of skills from beautiful home made jewellery to works of art… an area full of charm. Iably be your first stop. Indulge yourself at a chocolate fountain or grab a pork pie to munch on as you wander round. If you are interested in having a stand , please complete the below forms. Farmers Market. A wonderful place where you can sample local produce and maybe learn a little on the way too! Tradestands Horticultural Area The Horticultural tent is a newer addition to the show and is growing in popularity. You will find shrubs, plants, flowers, herbs, and unusual bits n bobs for the garden. In addition, there will be demonstrations and advice available. Tea Rooms With all the excitement of the show, visitors may need a little time to relax and refresh themselves in the Tea Room. Or why not pop down to the Bar or to one of the catering greens. Exhibition Hall This is where Young Farmers come in to their own by showing off their abilities in cooking, drawing, painting, sewing and pretty much anything they can turn their hand to! – a perfect opportunity for a bit of healthy competition between the 12 Essex Young Farmer clubs! Horse Ring One of the newest areas to the show with countless performances and equestrian games, a great area for budding horse riders and enthusiasts. Livestock Area With all sorts of different breeds of farm animals on show… pigs, cattle and sheep you name it and hopefully a new edition…goats! Main Rings There are two main rings where there is always something going on throughout the day. With a busy schedule of different performances to keep you entertained. Game Fair Whether you are totally new to the rural scene or a committed country sportsman, there's something for everyone in the game fair area. Children can get up close with the ferrets and hounds, with lots of demonstrations including the ferrets, a gundog scurry and taxidermy.
