At Gepp Solicitors, we are sad to announce the retirement of two of our highly respected partners, Danny Carter and Lisa Carter, following many years of outstanding service to the firm and our clients.

Danny retires as one of our most experienced senior partners in the Private Client Department, with a long-standing reputation for excellence in tax and succession planning.

He began his legal career in 1978 and joined Gepp Solicitors in 1988 as a Legal Executive, qualified as a Solicitor in 1990, and became a Partner in 1991.

Danny is widely recognised as a specialist in tax, trusts and estate planning. He has been regularly trusted by accountants, independent financial advisers and fellow solicitors to advise their clients, who value his practical and straightforward approach. He is also frequently recommended by land agents and agricultural consultants, particularly for his expertise in agricultural property relief and business property relief.

Lisa retires as joint Head of our Private Client team and former Managing Partner. Lisa was also a dual qualified Chartered Tax Advisor.

She qualified as a Solicitor in 2006, working initially in boutique law firms before joining our Private Client team in 2011. She became a Partner and Head of Private Client in 2015.

From 2018 to 2026, Lisa served as our Managing Partner. During this time, Lisa provided strong leadership of the firm, guiding us through the Covid-19 pandemic and overseeing the firm’s successful relocation from the city centre to modern premises at Chelmsford Business Park in 2022.

Lisa advised on all aspects of private client work, with expertise in wills, complex tax, trusts and succession planning. She was known for her ability to deliver clear, precise advice and for her commitment to providing an exceptional level of client care.

Justin Emerson, Managing Partner/Head of Dispute Resolution commented:
“Danny and Lisa have each made an exceptional contribution to our firm. Their expertise, leadership and dedication have shaped not only our Private Client team but the wider firm as well and have helped provide a strong stable base from which the firm can grow.

We are incredibly grateful for everything they have given to Gepp Solicitors. We wish them both a long, happy and well-deserved retirement.”

As a firm, we look forward to continuing to build on their legacy and to our ongoing success in the years ahead.
